Custom Rod Building - The Process

Choosing a custom fishing rod is a great decision if you are an angler who knows exactly what you want your gear to do.  Off-the-shelf rods are designed for a broad range of general fishing scenarios and are built to a price point, often compromising on component quality and precise specifications. A custom rod, by contrast, is built with your exact needs and desires in mind.

Custom rods make exceptional gifts for someone special in your life.  No matter what you choose, I guarantee that they would be pleased.  You have 2 choices:

1. (My favorite) You can keep it as a surprise and we can design it based on a general description of the type of fishing they like to do (e.g., offshore in a boat, casting from the beach, or angling in the canals or bridges)
2. The other option is that we can put together a gift voucher that you can present to them and let them make the choices.

That's a loaded question... much like asking how much cars or boats cost.  The cost is driven by the selected components, which we generally get at a volume discount, and the amount of labor involved.  Our custom rods start at $250, but can range up to $750, depending on the materials and complexity.   We are working on some standard packages that can give you a general idea and will post them as soon as they are available.

Currently, lead time is about 3-4 weeks, but we can expedite a build if needed (for a small fee).  Currently, there is only ONE Rod Builder, which is a limitation, but it is skill that takes a long time to develop and refine. However, since the build process involves multiple steps and multiples layers of epoxy that dry slowly, we can build several rods at the same time.
